Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu could potentially face a suspension as part of the Italian FA’s investigation into Nerazzurri ultras.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that there would be the risk of a three-match ban for the 30-year-old.
The Italian FA’s investigation into Inter and Milan’s relationship with their ultras is now well underway.
This follows criminal investigations into alleged activities by the Curva Nord and Curva Sud.
The Italian FA has all the necessary documents. They have interviewed members of both Inter and Milan.
And now, the FA is getting ready to render a verdict.
The focus of the Italian FA’s investigation has been the degree of contacts between players and staff of Inter and Milan and the clubs’ ultras.
In the case of Inter, there have been three figures at the centre of the investigation.
According to Tuttosport, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi risks a monetary fine. This would be in regards to his telephone conversations with ultras leaders about Champions League final tickets.
Meanwhile, Tuttosport reports, there is little risk of punishment for Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti.
However, for midfielder Calhanoglu there is a risk.
The Turkish international admitted to having had contacts with Curva Nord leader Marco Ferdico. This was against the official advice of Inter.
And according to Tuttosport, there is a chance that the Italian FA could hand Calhanoglu a three-match ban.
