Lazio reportedly tried to lure Francesco Pio Esposito away from Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.  

According to Il Messaggero via FCInter1908, Maurizio Sarri was keen to sign the prodigious striker as a replacement for Taty Castellanos.

Despite proving a faithful servant since Ciro Immobile’s exit, Castellanos could leave the Stadio Olimpico in January.

Furthermore, Sarri was scouring the market for the Argentine’s heir since his return to the club in the summer.

Therefore, Lazio made several inquiries during the transfer window.

Francesco Pio Esposito was one of Lazio’s three attacking targets in the summer.

Indeed, Giacomo Raspadori was Sarri’s dream signing, yet the diminutive forward swapped Napoli for Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, the Biancocelesti were also hot on Mikel Oyarzabal’s trail, yet Real Sociedad had no intention of selling their captain.

Therefore, Sarri hoped to convince Inter Milan to sell their prodigious striker.
