AC Milan could well be set to follow the lead of Juventus by having a ‘B team’ that plays in the Italian league system, according to a report.

At least three or four other clubs are ready to launch a development team and have them play in the professional leagues, something that Juventus have already been doing for a few years now.

That is what was stated by Lorenzo Casini, president of Lega Serie A, during the discussion organised in Turin entitled ‘Second teams in Italy and in Europe, a model for the future?’.

“There are models that can work well in Italy too. In the time I’ve had with the other clubs, I’ve learned that 3-4 are ready to form the second team. One problem is that of loans, but the second team becomes a solution,” he said (via MilanNews).

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com has stated on Twitter that Milan’s sporting director Ricky Massara is present at a conference that is being held today at Juventus’ Allianz Stadium regarding the logistics of launching an operating a second team.

It is something that was spoken about as an idea on our most recent podcast episode, which you can watch below.
