According to a report by TEAMtalk, Gianluigi Donnarumma is intrigued by the idea of joining Manchester United, as uncertainty surrounds his long-term future at Paris Saint-Germain. The 26-year-old Italian international, who has already excelled at AC Milan and PSG, is “tempted by a move to Man Utd amid contract concerns in Paris.” With his current deal running until 2026 and no extension agreed, the door could be open for United – though a transfer remains complicated.
TEAMtalk reveal that “Manchester United are being kept informed on the situation” and have already “formally registered their interest.” Donnarumma, admired for his elite experience and temperament, is seen as a “serious target – whether it becomes possible this window or further down the line.” His potential arrival would hinge on United creating space in their goalkeeping ranks, most notably with Andre Onana’s future still unresolved.
For Donnarumma to arrive, Onana may need to depart. However, as TEAMtalk reports, “United have been unable to find a buyer” for the Cameroonian stopper. There is “acceptance within the club that Onana could be moved on under the right circumstances,” but with “little concrete interest so far this summer,” the situation remains static.

In the short term, United are reportedly considering loan options, although “such a move for Donnarumma is not being discussed” yet. Instead, alternatives like Senne Lammens remain under evaluation, though no significant moves can occur until Altay Bayindir also finds a new club.
While a summer swoop for Donnarumma looks unlikely right now, the TEAMtalk report suggests United remain alert, knowing “the dynamic could change quickly if the right conditions present themselves.” Fans will watch closely to see if Donnarumma’s contract impasse becomes United’s opportunity.
From a Manchester United fan’s perspective, the idea of signing Gianluigi Donnarumma is both exciting and pragmatic. At just 26, he’s already experienced the pressure cooker of top-tier European football and would bring a commanding presence between the sticks. His availability – driven by PSG’s stalled contract talks – could be a blessing if United are patient and strategic.
However, fans may question the club’s ability to shift Onana quickly enough to make this viable. There’s also scepticism over whether Donnarumma would settle for a loan move if United can’t act permanently this summer. “Having two top keepers on the books permanently is not feasible,” TEAMtalk rightly point out, highlighting the logistical challenge.
Still, the idea of upgrading the goalkeeping department is welcome. Onana’s inconsistent time at United has left many fans unconvinced. Donnarumma feels like a step towards stability. Even if it’s not this summer, fans will be hopeful that United are thinking long-term.
