Manchester United are reported to be among a handful of clubs showing interest in out of favour Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.

Kolo Muani rose to prominence thanks to a 23-goal campaign for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022/23, during which he was also part of France's squad at the World Cup in Qatar.

Frankfurt, having signed the late bloomer on a free transfer just a year earlier, quickly cashed in and sold on to PSG for an initial €75m (£62m), potentially rising to €90m (£74m) with add-ons. But it’s safe to say Kolo Muani is yet to justify that price tag, scoring only nine times in all competitions last season.

So far in 2024/25, the 26-year-old has started just twice across Ligue 1 and the Champions League, even after being slated to be the squad's new chief goal threat following Kylian Mbappe's exit, and has featured only sparingly as a substitute since September.

L'Equipe writes that Manchester United hold the "most concrete" interest, predating Ruben Amorim's arrival as head coach last month. It is, however, suggested that other issues have to be resolved before proceeding with any sort of approach. Champions League clubs RB Leipzig and Monaco are also described as having fledgling interest in Kolo Muani.

The French publication suggests a loan "with or without an option to buy" is the most "realistic" way for PSG to offload the player approaching the January window.

PSG coach Luis Enrique was blunt about omitting Kolo Muani, as well as Milan Skriniar and Presnel Kimpembe from his matchday selection for Sunday's win over domestic rivals Lyon.

"I can only summon 20 [players]. Whoever doesn't understand, it's not my problem," he said.

Manchester United, despite spending around £35m on Joshua Zirkzee during the summer, have been linked with a new striker for much of the season as a result of struggling to consistently find the net.

Rasmus Hojlund, who arrived in a deal worth up to £72m last year, began the campaign injured but has produced more readily since Amorim's arrival coincided with improved match sharpness.
