As Liverpool fans await clarity over the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah, behind the scenes, the club’s transfer activity is already in motion. According to L’Équipe, the Reds have made an enquiry for Algeria international Mohamed Amoura — a forward who may not be on everyone’s radar but whose statistical profile suggests a player worth serious consideration.
The 24-year-old has emerged as a standout in European football this season, currently on loan at Wolfsburg from Union Saint-Gilloise. His numbers are exceptional. Across club and country, Amoura has racked up 33 goal contributions — a return that would place him among Liverpool’s top scorers. In the Bundesliga alone, he has scored 10 goals in 24 games, showing both consistency and adaptation to a higher level of competition.
A glance at his FBref stats tells a compelling story. Amoura ranks in the 97th percentile for assists (0.36 per 90), 93rd for progressive carries (3.10), 88th for successful take-ons, and 96th for progressive passes received. He also contributes defensively — ranking in the 83rd percentile for tackles and 93rd for interceptions. His percentile for blocks is a staggering 99.
Those metrics, drawn from over 1900 minutes in Europe’s top competitions, suggest a player who offers more than just finishing touch. He’s involved in the build-up, pressing intelligently, and showing positional awareness — all essential attributes in Liverpool’s high-octane, high-intensity system.
Versatility is another big draw. Two-thirds of Amoura’s appearances this season have come through the middle, but he’s also deployed regularly on the left, and occasionally as a No.10. This flexibility could prove invaluable as Arne Slot looks to evolve the Reds’ attack in the post-Klopp era.

It’s understood that Liverpool’s enquiry isn’t the only one lodged for Amoura. Both Arsenal and Nottingham Forest have expressed interest in the Algerian, suggesting his stock is on the rise.
With a contract running until 2028 and Wolfsburg holding the option for another year, the German side are in a strong negotiating position. The reported asking price is between €35 million and €40 million. If Wolfsburg qualify for Europe, currently sat 9th in the Bundesliga, they may well push for an even higher fee — or keep the player entirely.
Internationally, Amoura’s stock has never been higher. A brace against Botswana and a hat-trick against Mozambique in recent World Cup qualifiers has only intensified interest. His confidence, composure, and productivity on the international stage have made him one of the most talked-about African forwards this year.
For Liverpool fans, this feels like the kind of link that deserves more than a passing glance. Mohamed Amoura may not have the global reputation of a Victor Osimhen or an Alexander Isak, but the data and trajectory tell a story that’s hard to ignore.
His numbers scream “Liverpool signing” — not just for what he does on the ball but how he contributes off it. We know Slot will want forwards who press, recycle possession quickly, and create space for runners. Amoura does all of that and has an end product to boot.
At €35–40 million, it’s not cheap — but compared to some of the inflated deals doing the rounds, it feels smart. And Liverpool have always loved a forward from left field (literally and figuratively) who proves everyone wrong.
Fans should keep a close eye on this one. It might just be the most Liverpool transfer of the summer.
