Dominic Calvert-Lewin Weighs Up Future After Agent Exit

Everton’s former talisman, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, has made a bold career move by parting ways with his agent as he searches for a new Premier League home, according to TalkSport. The 28-year-old striker, who left Goodison Park this summer after nine years and 71 goals in 273 games, is now in talks with Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Leeds United.

“Calvert-Lewin remains without a new club for the upcoming season,” TalkSport reports, with Leeds keeping him in mind should their pursuit of Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz fall through.

Transfer Interest From Top-Flight Rivals

While Sunderland showed ambition in trying to sign him, the forward is believed to prefer a club higher up the Premier League ladder. “He is keen to keep his options open,” TalkSport noted, suggesting he’s holding out for the right fit. Sunderland have since turned to Chelsea’s Marc Guiu on loan, while Aston Villa have also been linked.

Leeds’ interest hinges on Muniz, who bagged eight Premier League goals for Fulham last season. If the Brazilian stays put, Calvert-Lewin could become their top target.

Career Highlights at Everton

Calvert-Lewin arrived from Sheffield United in 2016 and quickly established himself, scoring 57 Premier League goals—the third-highest in Everton’s history. His standout campaign came in 2020/21, earning him the club’s Player of the Season award after netting 21 goals in all competitions.

Memorably, he scored the winner against Crystal Palace in 2021/22 to secure Everton’s survival. Unfortunately, persistent injury setbacks limited his recent game time, including a hamstring issue that sidelined him for much of last spring.

England Career on Hold

The forward has 11 England caps, last appearing at Euro 2020 in the quarter-final win over Ukraine. At present, it seems unlikely he will sign before the new Premier League season kicks off—but his next move could reignite both his club and international ambitions.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

From a Leeds fan’s point of view, Calvert-Lewin presents an intriguing option. His Premier League pedigree is undeniable—57 goals in England’s top flight is no small feat. While Rodrigo Muniz offers youth and recent form, Calvert-Lewin’s proven track record in high-pressure moments, such as keeping Everton up in 2022, could be exactly the kind of experience Leeds need as they aim to consolidate their top-flight status.

There are concerns, of course. Injury history is the main red flag, with long spells on the sidelines becoming a recurring theme in recent seasons. Leeds’ squad has already battled fitness challenges, so investing in a player with similar issues would carry risk. That said, a fully fit Calvert-Lewin offers aerial dominance, link-up play, and a physical presence—attributes that could complement the existing attacking options.

Leeds fans might also note the timing. If the Muniz deal collapses, securing Calvert-Lewin on a free could be savvy business, especially if his wages align with the club’s budget. He’d also add valuable leadership in a relatively young squad. While some might prefer a more durable, long-term option, others would see this as a calculated gamble worth taking.
