Francesco Acerbi could leave Inter Milan this summer despite having a year remaining on his contract with the club.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908.
However, as part of the deal, the Italian international will see his wages drop significantly.
Meanwhile, there are doubts about how much of a role that the former Lazio and Sassuolo defender will continue to have in the team,
Acerbi had been a stalwart under Simone Inzaghi. He started regularly for the Nerazzurri, including in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.

However, with the arrival of Cristian Chivu as new Inter coach, there are doubts over whether Acerbi will retain such a prominent role.
Moreover, Acerbi turns 38 next season. Therefore, his age could certainly begin to catch up with him even more.
In the meantime, the Gazzetta report, Inter are targeting a defender at the complete other end of the age spectrum.
Therefore, that could be another factor that pushes Acerbi out of the club.
