Genoa have reportedly agreed full terms to sign Argentina international Valentin Carboni from Inter, on loan with no option to buy.

This is an important development, because there had been suggestions that Carboni could be used as part of an exchange deal with Genoa defender Koni De Winter.

However, the two deals were separated out because the Nerazzurri want to keep control of Carboni’s future, believing he could flourish with more regular playing time.

Carboni will remain on Inter books

According to transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano, the agreement is a one-season loan until June 2026 and Inter can also pay Genoa up to €1m in add-ons based on the number of games he manages to play.

The plan last season had been slightly different, as Carboni was sent to Olympique Marseille on loan with an option to buy.

However, it was not activated because he barely played due to a serious knee ligament injury that he sustained in October 2024.

The trequartista is still only 20 years of age, but already has three senior caps for Argentina under his belt.

Inter signed him for their youth academy in 2020 from Catania, and he had loan experiences at Monza and Olympique Marseille.
