Former Inter Milan fullback Mattia Zanotti could be on the verge of returning to Italy after Bologna took an interest in his services.
Per Sportitalia via FCInterNews, Vincenzo Italiano’s men have identified the Lugano defender as a ‘concrete’ target.
Mattia Zanotti graduated from the Inter academy and even made his senior debut in Serie A in 2021.
However, first-team opportunities were difficult to come by at the San Siro, forcing the youngster’s exit in 2023.
Indeed, he first joined St. Gallen on a season-long loan in 2023/24 before signing for Lugano the following summer.

Though it’s been only a year since Zanotti left his homeland, the young gun could soon come back.
After a fairly impressive season in the Swiss Super League, the 22-year-old has drawn interest from Bologna.
Despite recruiting Davide Calabria in January, Italiano looks poised to add another right-back this summer.
The next few hours could be crucial, with Bologna ready to intensify talks with Lugano and close the deal on short notice.
