According to a report from La Provence, Stade Rennais have approached Olympique de Marseille with a loan offer for Ismaël Koné (22). Rennes have attached an option to buy the midfielder for €14 million.
Koné became the first signing for Marseille as they looked to kickstart a new era under Roberto De Zerbi, but patience with the Canadian international has worn out with Roberto De Zerbi in a press conference revealing that the club were planning on parting ways with him.
Rennes have been highly active during the transfer window as they look to bolster their squad. The club have been drawn into an unexpected relegation battle, although a first victory under head coach Habib Beye has lifted the team out of the relegation zone.
Rennes now sit two points above the relegation playoff spot which is occupied by AS Saint-Étienne who lost over the weekend to Lille OSC 4-1.
