Former footballer and manager Graeme Souness has sparked some interesting thoughts about the future of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold. During an interview, Souness suggested that the talented right-back might soon find himself at Real Madrid.

He hinted that with his close friend Jude Bellingham already playing for the Spanish giants, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Alexander-Arnold followed suit.

“This is just a guess, but with his friend Bellingham in the team, I see Trent at Real Madrid,” Souness was quoted by Fichajes, hinting at the possibility of the Liverpool star making the move to Spain.

A long-term target for Real Madrid

Alexander-Arnold, who plays as a right-back but can also operate in central midfield, has long been on Real Madrid’s radar. Now, with Bellingham already settled in at the club, Madrid could have a stronger chance of convincing the English full-back to join their ranks.

Souness added that if Alexander-Arnold were to leave Liverpool, Real Madrid would likely be the only club that could lure him away.

“You would only leave Liverpool for Real Madrid,” Souness remarked, emphasising the prestige and allure of the Spanish side.

He dismissed the idea of other clubs like Bayern Munich or Barcelona, noting that Barcelona, in particular, would struggle to afford the player due to their financial difficulties.

Souness’s comments have stirred up discussion about the future of Alexander-Arnold, who has been a crucial figure at Liverpool in recent years.

Known for his attacking play and creativity from the right-back position, Alexander-Arnold is considered one of the best in the world.

Although his contract with Liverpool runs until 2025, the idea of Real Madrid targeting him seems plausible, especially with the connection to Bellingham.
