FC Barcelona are on track to winning their first title of the season in January as they advanced past the semi-final stage with a win over Athletic Club and are now going to play their third Spanish Super Cup final in three years.
Last night, their opponents for this final were confirmed, as Real Madrid won 3-0 over Mallorca to make their way to the ultimate game of the competition. Their win sets up another El Clasico final that is set to take place this Sunday in Saudi Arabia.
One of the protagonists for the Merengues in the semi-final last night was the Brazilian forward Rodrygo, who also talked to the press after the full-time whistle.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the winger also previewed the upcoming game on Sunday and admitted that it is difficult to play against Barcelona while also assuring that his side is prepared for the final:
“It’s difficult to play against Barça, as always… we are prepared and we want the title.”
The last time the two sides met was in La Liga, when Barcelona scored 4 past Real Madrid. However, the two sides have both gotten the better of each other in the final of the Spanish Super Cup in the last two years.

Last year, it was Real Madrid who came out winners with a 4-1 scoreline in the final in Saudi Arabia, while in the preceding year, the Blaugranes won the final with a 3-1 scoreline.
Thus, the upcoming match will be a highly exciting affair for the fans of both sides, as is usually the case with El Clasicos. Neither of the sides can be picked as favorites for this game, as both have displayed their quality in the first half of the season, while also showing some very clear weaknesses.
