Carlo Ancelotti signed a new contract with Real Madrid towards the end of 2023, committing himself to the Spanish capital club until 2026.
The renewal put an end to constant speculations about his future at the club and the never-ending links to the Brazil national team.
Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen had been touted as the man to take over from the Italian if he were to leave Real Madrid.
But the 42-year-old former midfielder himself signed a new deal with the Bundesliga champions until 2026.
However, now, SportBILD reports that Real Madrid will try and hire Xabi Alonso in the summer of 2025 to take over from Carlo Ancelotti.
As has already been reported months ago, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has been impressed by the work that the former Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder has done at Leverkusen.

The Real Madrid icon was even approached by the likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich this past summer but opted to continue with Die Werkself.
However, the report states that Alonso’s commitment was for only one additional season and that the club expects him to leave when Real Madrid come calling.
In fact, Bayer Leverkusen are already working on finding suitable replacements for the Spanish tactician.
Alonso’s potential acquisition could hold the key to Real Madrid also being able to sign their top target for 2025 – Florian Wirtz.
Ancelotti, for his part, has given no indication whatsoever that the ongoing season might be his last with Real Madrid. However, the Italian is said to be considering offers from Saudi Arabia.
So, it will be interesting to see how things develop in the coming months.
