Real Madrid watching closely as Napoli’s move for Girona star ‘almost complete’

La Liga giants Real Madrid are inching towards a sudden and welcome boost on the financial front.

This comes amid confirmation that ex-Blancos defender Miguel Gutiérrez is on the verge of a move to Italy, with Antonio Conte’s Napoli.

As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto:

‘Napoli is coming back strongly for Miguel Gutiérrez, the left-back from Girona. In the last few hours, there have been new contacts between the parties, and the agreement with Girona is almost complete. The player has been offered a five-year contract.’

So, why does as much spell good news for those behind the scenes at Real Madrid?

As part of the agreement which saw Gutiérrez depart Spain’s capital for Girona back in 2022, Los Blancos secured for themselves a 50% sell-on clause.

This means that, whatever sum Girona manage to bring in for their defensive standout, their La Liga rivals will be entitled to half.
