Real Madrid’s season got off to the worst possible start when Dani Carvajal suffered a season-ending knee injury early in the campaign.
Left stranded with one of their mainstays out, the management turned to Lucas Vazquez to provide solutions in the department and the veteran did not disappoint.
The Spaniard has, after all, been ever reliable when called upon by the manager. However, this season has been crucial for him to establish himself as a player who can churn out high-quality performances week in and week out.
Speaking to the media in a recent interview, the Real Madrid right-back commented on his future, the various possibilities that run in his mind and his ambitions looking ahead.
“My mind is full of everything. The option of continuing, not continuing, going somewhere else or retiring,” he began, revealing his uncertainty.
“I feel very good. I just want to enjoy this season,” he added (h/t Madrid Xtra).

Despite being a regular for Real Madrid across competitions this season, Vazquez’s future has become a topic of discussion given Real Madrid’s clear interest in signing a new right-back for next season.
Los Blancos are closely monitoring Liverpool’s Trent Alexander Arnold and are even said to be very close to completing his signing in the coming months.
If the English international arrives, it would serve as a massive blow to the Spaniard’s chances of enjoying prominence under Carlo Ancelotti, thus throwing his future into doubt.
As the player reiterated, it is clear that his future is indeed uncertain and hinges on the decision of Real Madrid to make a new signing. The coming months will be crucial.
