The recently concluded FIFA Club World Cup has drawn in mixed responses across the footballing world.
While fans and clubs have appreciated the spectacle which allows various continental giants to play against each other and also generate a large amount of revenue, players’ unions and media have raised concerns.
The concerns largely lie around how players are getting too many matches and have barely any time to take a breather.
Real Madrid, though, have made themselves clear as to which side of the debate they are on.
According to SPORT, the Spanish giants have urged FIFA to consider organising the Club World Cup every two years.
Despite falling short in sporting terms during the tournament held in the United States, the club view it as a massive commercial success.

Recent reports suggest Real Madrid earned over €70 million from their participation. In addition, the club emerged as the most followed side in the tournament, accounting for 25% of total ticket sales.
This commercial windfall that has prompted Madrid to push FIFA for a more regular format. The idea, which was previously floated by Arsene Wenger, is gaining momentum among the elite clubs who benefit from such international exposure.
That being said, FIFA is not too keen on the idea of hosting a Club World Cup every two years.
As per the report, FIFA president Gianni Infantino appears to have poured cold water on the idea. He admitted that staging a Club World Cup every two years would be ‘excessive’.
Instead, Infantino has expressed interest in expanding the 2029 edition of the tournament to 48 teams, a move that will help the tournament bring in even bigger clubs to the fore.
