Real Madrid are reportedly among several elite European clubs keeping a close eye on Bologna centre-back Sam Beukema, according to SPORT.

The Dutch defender has seen his reputation grow steadily in recent months and is now considered one of the top-performing centre-backs in Serie A.

At 26, Beukema is expected to make a major step in his career this summer, as his commanding presence in defence, along with impressive statistics, has turned heads across Europe.

So far this season, he ranks third in Serie A for most duels won (151) and leads in passes made to the final third (143) among defenders—clear signs of his defensive strength and ability to contribute to build-up play.

Top clubs interested in Beukema

Beukema’s reliability has also made him stand out in another key area—discipline.

In fact, he has gone 29 consecutive matches without receiving a single card, which speaks volumes about his ability to win the ball cleanly and stay composed under pressure.

It is said that within Serie A, both Inter Milan and Napoli have expressed clear interest in the Bologna man. Meanwhile, in England, Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea are said to be keeping close tabs on his progress.

From Spain, though, both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have taken notice of his consistent performances, though neither has submitted a formal offer at this stage.

Bologna, understanding the growing difficulty of holding onto him, are prepared to consider offers around the €30 million mark, which could lead to a bidding war as the summer window approaches.

Real Madrid still prioritising Dean Huijsen

While Beukema remains on Real Madrid’s radar, the club’s primary focus is reportedly on Dean Huijsen.

The young Spanish-Dutch defender, currently playing for Bournemouth, is seen as a better long-term fit due to his age and adaptability.

Real Madrid are continuing to assess their options in the transfer market, but Huijsen appears to be their first choice for reinforcing the backline.

Nonetheless, Beukema’s name remains in the mix, and depending on how the transfer market develops, Real Madrid could consider him as a strong alternative should other plans fall through.
