Real Madrid have been very busy in the transfer market in recent weeks, and it appears that more is to come during the summer. Deals for Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold are already finalised, and with Alvaro Carreras also set to arrive from Benfica, attention will soon turn to other areas.
Angelo Stiller has been strongly linked with arriving for the pivot position, but he may not be the only German to swap the Bundesliga for Real Madrid. Florian Wirtz has been a long-time target for Los Blancos, and although he has appeared to slipping away, there is still hope within the club.
Liverpool are believed to be closing in on the signing of Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, but according to Diario AS, Real Madrid believe that they still have a chance to sign the playmaker.

Bayern Munich are resigned to missing out on Wirtz, which had seemingly paved the way for Liverpool to get their man. But the Premier League champions could still be threatened by Real Madrid, who have refused to throw in the towel at this stage.
The fact that Xabi Alonso, who was Wirtz’s former manager at Leverkusen, has taken charge at Real Madrid does give them an advantage. And because of this, there is a belief that the Germany international can be tempt to snub Liverpool in favour of a blockbuster move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
There is no doubt that Wirtz would be a fantastic signing for Real Madrid, but there are questions about whether he is absolutely necessary. Rodrygo Goes may well leave this summer, but Alonso would already have a lot of strength in attacking position – such as Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz – so there is scope to suggest that there is no need for a signing to be made in this area.
