Real Madrid are going through a torrid time due to injuries to several key players, especially in the defensive unit, leaving Carlo Ancelotti short-handed.
Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao’s seasons are already over while Lucas Vazquez is also out for an extended period, as is Aurelien Tchouameni, who has been used as a makeshift centre-back by the manager whenever needed.
There has been talk of Real Madrid bringing in a new player in January at centre-back while academy product Raul Asencio has also presented himself as an option with a fine display on debut vs Osasuna.
However, according to MARCA, the plan is for Ancelotti to deploy Aurelien Tchouameni as a makeshift centre-back whenever he returns from injury.
The French international has not had the best of seasons so far and has made it clear that he does not enjoy playing as a central defender although he is ready to help the team in whichever way possible.
As such, the report states that Tchouameni will be asked to play at centre-back once he is back from injury. In fact, that was the plan for the AC Milan game earlier this month and will be put into action once the 24-year-old is back.

As a consequence of Tchouameni’s touted move to centre-back, his compatriot Eduardo Camavinga will be asked to slot in as the defensive midfielder for Real Madrid.
The youngster, who recently turned 22 years old, has done well playing as a pivot, and as per the report, the dressing room believes that the team performs better and has greater fluidity in possession with him as the No. 6.
As such, once Tchouameni returns, Ancelotti plans on moving him to defence to partner Antonio Rudiger while Camavinga will operate as the deepest of the Real Madrid’s midfielders.
