Real Madrid star tipped for more important role following Luka Modrić exit | OneFootball

A headline member of the midfield ranks at La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid is expected to be afforded an even more prominent role for the club moving forward.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Eduardo Camavinga as the player in question.

France international Camavinga is for his part fresh off something of a disappointing personal campaign in 2024/25.

Owing to a string of fitness problems, the 22-year-old was restricted to appearances in only half of Real Madrid’s La Liga fixtures, eight of which came from the bench.

Faith in Camavinga’s talents, though, remains high behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

This comes amid confirmation that new Blancos manager Xabi Alonso considers the former Rennes talent ‘a key figure’ in his project.

So much so that, with Luka Modrić primed to depart this summer, Camavinga is in line for a potentially significant uptick in game time.

As per AS, whilst the players do not possess the same profile, ‘Cama’ is viewed as ready to step into the shoes of the Croatian icon.

With no replacement for Modrić having yet been sourced on the market, the Frenchman will no doubt be feeling altogether positive when it comes to his prospects for the season to come.
