La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Sunday been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that Lucas Vázquez has picked up an injury.
Defender Vázquez, for his part, was in from the off on Saturday night, as Real Madrid played host to city rivals Atlético in a top-of-the-table La Liga clash.
En route to an eventual 1-1 stalemate between the sides, however, the 33-year-old suffered a muscular problem.
As much was announced by way of a statement across Los Blancos’ website and social media platforms on Sunday afternoon:
‘Following tests carried out today on our player Lucas Vázquez by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the hamstring of his left leg. He will not be included in the squad for the match in Manchester. Pending progress.’
Vázquez has been ruled out of the first leg of Real Madrid’s Champions League playoff tie with Manchester City, unlikely to be fit for the return leg back in Spain’s capital on February 19th, either.
