Real Madrid are not wasting time when it comes to securing the future of their defensive backbone.
As reported by Fichajes, the Spanish giants have set their sights firmly on Antonio Silva, the highly-rated 21-year-old centre-back currently playing for Benfica.
The Portuguese defender has been one of the standout performers in the league this season and has emerged as one of Europe’s most promising talents.
Madrid, known for investing smartly in young players with long-term potential, see Silva as the kind of defender who can eventually take on a leading role at the heart of their defence.
The club has already opened talks with Benfica and are actively pushing to reach an agreement.

Given his ability to read the game well, remain composed under pressure, and contribute in both defensive and build-up phases, Silva fits the mould of a future starter at the club.
Interestingly, Benfica are not completely opposed to the idea of letting Silva leave, although they have placed a valuation of around €35 million on the player.
Real Madrid have responded by putting forward an offer reportedly consisting of €26 million fixed, with an additional €4 million in performance-based add-ons.
To further sweeten the deal, Madrid are also believed to be open to including a player on loan to meet Benfica’s expectations.
This kind of proactive approach reflects how serious Real Madrid are about securing Silva’s signature before other major European clubs intensify their interest.
The Portuguese defender is gaining a lot of attention, and Madrid are keen to move quickly to avoid entering a bidding war later.
By taking early measures, Real Madrid are showing that they are thinking ahead and preparing their backline for the future, where a certain Dean Huijsen is also on their radar.
