According to The Athletic, Real Madrid forward Endrick has suffered a fresh setback in his recovery from a muscle injury and is now expected to be sidelined for around two to three weeks.

The 18-year-old Brazilian had originally picked up a right hamstring injury at the end of May during the final league match of the 2024/25 season.

The injury had already ruled him out of this summer’s Club World Cup in the United States. Despite undergoing an intensive recovery programme in Spain, Endrick has now relapsed, just when it seemed he was nearing full fitness.

Major setback for Endrick

It is to be noted that Endrick flew to Miami to continue his recovery closer to head coach Xabi Alonso, his staff, and teammates in late June.

Although it was never planned for him to take part in the Club World Cup, his presence around the squad was seen as part of his integration into the team.

Earlier this week, he even took part in part of a group training session, giving hope that he was close to returning. However, that optimism has now been dashed as he has suffered a recurrence of the same hamstring issue.

This injury could play a big role in shaping Endrick’s immediate future at the club. Although speculation had already begun about a potential loan or move away, sources close to the player insist that Endrick wants to stay at Real Madrid and fight for his place.

However, the injury may force the club to rethink its plans. Gonzalo Garcia, who impressed during the Club World Cup, has put himself firmly in contention.

With Real Madrid needing to make squad decisions for the upcoming season, Endrick’s injury could tilt the balance in Garcia’s favour.
