A report by Mario Cortegana and Guillermo Rai via The Athletic has confirmed that Real Madrid top target, Leny Yoro, is open to staying at Lille for another year before joining the Merengues for free.

It must be noted that the young defender’s contract runs until 2025, and everyone knows he wants to play for Real Madrid. This is why Los Blancos are only planning to offer between €30 million to €40 million, while Lille are hoping for a sum closer to €60 million.

The directors at Lille are known for being tough negotiators, and this situation is no different. However, Yoro has time on his side.

By not ruling out the possibility of staying at Lille for one more year, he could join Real Madrid as a free agent later on, which would increase the pressure on his current club to negotiate with the Spanish giants sooner.

Real Madrid have been in touch

Real Madrid have already been in contact with Yoro’s representatives over the past few weeks. As previously mentioned, there are no issues from the player’s side, and an agreement seems to be in place.

Yoro, a teenage sensation, has his heart set on Real Madrid and is ready to turn down offers from other top clubs like Liverpool, PSG, and Manchester United.

The main obstacle now is for Real Madrid to reach an agreement with Lille, as the French club is demanding a high transfer fee. Real Madrid remain firm in their stance, not willing to offer more than €40 million, considering that Yoro’s contract expires in 2025.

Pressure is on Lille

This recent development has given Real Madrid the upper hand and increased the pressure on Lille.

The Spanish capital giants’ strategic moves, along with Yoro’s clear preference to join them, have played a significant role in this situation. It is now up to Lille to make the next move.

No matter what decision Lille make, the situation seems to be leaning in Real Madrid’s favour.

The coming weeks will be crucial in determining whether Yoro will move to Madrid this summer or stay at Lille for one more year before making the move for free.
