Jonathan Tah has become one of the most coveted players in Europe heading into the summer transfer window as he gets set to bid goodbye to Bayer Leverkusen.
The 29-year-old German international’s contract expires on June 30 and he has confirmed that he will be leaving as a free agent.
Real Madrid, for one, have been credited with tentative interest in Tah, especially with his current Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, primed to take over from Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu in a few weeks.
The Merengues’ arch-rivals, Barcelona, too are in the race to sign the centre-back, along with Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, according to an update from journalist Anton Meana, there is nothing between Real Madrid and Tah as things stand and the Spanish heavyweights are not considering a move for him at the moment.

Despite Alonso being poised to become the next manager at Real Madrid, it appears that there is no concrete interest from the club to reunite him with Tah next season.
The German international is a player who has developed and improved his game under Alonso’s tutelage over the past couple of seasons at Leverkusen.
Considering that his contract expires and he would be available for free in the summer, the prospect of signing him would have been attractive – considering Real Madrid are often on the lookout for such type of deals.
However, at the moment, there appears to be nothing between the Merengues and the Bundesliga defender.
Instead, everything indicates that Real Madrid have made Dean Huijsen of Bournemouth their primary target for the summer transfer window.
