In a concerning development for Real Madrid, journalist Edu Aguirre of El Chiringuito TV reports that Kylian Mbappe is a doubt for their FIFA Club World Cup opener against Al-Hilal.

Having been working for over a week now under new manager Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid will finally take the field for their first game under the Spaniard tomorrow when they face the Saudi Arabian giants in their first group game of the tournament.

However, Alonso might have to make do without the biggest source of goals for Real Madrid this season in Mbappe.

As per the report, the French superstar, who won the La Liga Pichichi Trophy in his debut season with the Merengues, along with the European Golden Boot, is not training with the rest of the squad today.

Mbappe’s absence in today’s training session is understood to be due to a fever, and at the moment, his involvement for tomorrow’s game against Al-Hilal is uncertain.

This poses a concern for Alonso considering that Real Madrid do not have another senior centre-forward at their disposal with Endrick also out injured.

One of the alternatives for the new head coach would be Rodrygo, who has been clamouring to play on the left or through the middle instead of his usual position on the right.

Meanwhile, young academy striker Gonzalo Garcia, who enjoyed a prolific campaign with Castilla, could also be an option in Mbappe misses out tomorrow.

The likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Ferland Mendy, Endrick, and David Alaba are all set to be unavailable for the opener tomorrow while the trio of Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, and Eder Militao are also unlikely to be ready.
