As reported earlier today, Real Madrid are advancing in negotiations with SL Benfica for the signing of Alvaro Carreras.
The Spanish left-back has been the Merengues’ priority target for the left-back position and they have waited for him even after the deal did not go through prior to the start of the FIFA Club World Cup as they wished.
Real Madrid have already agreed personal terms with Carreras and are now on the verge of reaching an agreement with Benfica for the defender.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid will be signing Alvaro Carreras on a player-plus-cash deal, with young left-back Rafa Obrador set to join Benfica as part of the deal.
Indeed, the 21-year-old La Fabrica talent, who spent the last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna, has been included as part of the negotiations with Benfica, in what will be a fixed-fee-plus-player operation.
Romano further states that the deal is in the advanced stages and the agreement will be finalised in the coming days, with his trademark ‘Here We Go’ expected soon.
Carreras is expected to join Real Madrid and challenge Fran Garcia for the left-back position under Xabi Alonso, leaving the future of Ferland Mendy, still recovering from an injury, in limbo.
As for Obrador, the 21-year-old talent, whose contract expires in 2027, has given the green light to the Benfica move, with Romano giving the ‘Here We Go’ on this part of the deal.
Having fared decently at Deportivo La Coruna last season, the youngster will hope to make it big at Benfica,
