With the signings of Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold secured, Real Madrid are now moving swiftly in their pursuit of a new left-back.
As has already been reported, Alvaro Carreras of SL Benfica is seen as the priority target for the position and progress is being made in signing him.
The 22-year-old, a former La Fabrica trainee, has a €50 million release clause in his contract at Benfica, but Real Madrid are trying to negotiate a lower fee to bring him back to Valdebebas.
In fact, according to a report from COPE, Alvaro Carreras’ return to Real Madrid is now edging closer and closer.
The left-back left the Merengues’ academy in 2020, joining Manchester United, where he made solid progress before ending up at Benfica last year.

Having initially signed him on loan in January 2024, the Portuguese giants made his signing permanent last summer and his performances this season have followed an upward curve.
Carreras is seen as a good fit at Real Madrid who will be following a new blueprint under incoming manager Xabi Alonso.
Now, an agreement for his signing appears to be inching closer, with reports earlier today even suggesting that the Spanish ace will be signing a six-year deal until 2031 with Los Blancos.
The idea is for Real Madrid to have Carreras’ signing sealed and secured well ahead in time for the FIFA Club World Cup next month.
Once that is done, the Spanish heavyweights are likely to turn their focus on signing a new midfielder with three players shortlisted as possible candidates.
