In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Real Madrid have identified Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella as a target for this summer transfer window. It has been revealed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to bring the Italy international to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this off-season.

Barella’s Impressive Run Of Form In Italian Football

Barella enjoyed a solid campaign at the Italian club as he put in a string of impressive performances for them at the centre of the park. The 28-year-old registered three goals and grabbed nine assists in 56 matches for Inter Milan last season in multiple competitions.

The Italian talent anchored the midfield with conviction after he made 50 tackles, 26 blocks and 12 interceptions in Serie A. He was even excellent when distributing the ball from midfield based on his pass success rate of 82.1% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the San Siro will run out in the summer of 2029 which could make it tough for Real Madrid to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

What Will Barella Add To Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso’s Team?

Barella is a tough-tackling midfielder who can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball from midfield.

The Italian talent can even chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a defensive midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if told to do so by his manager.

Barella would add more quality and depth to Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso’s midfield department. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next season.

At 28, Barella is playing in his prime which makes him a good choice for Los Blancos to pursue in this summer transfer period. However, he might need some time to adjust to life in La Liga if Los Blancos manage to bring him on board this off-season.
