Real Madrid may or may not opt to turn towards the transfer market in January to reinforce their centre-back position. The administration, for their part, have their eyes on the market in any case.

Of the various options available in January, some stand out more than others with Jonathan Tah being one attractive option for Los Blancos. After all, his contract runs out in June and places him well to leave in the winter.

The big hurdle for the Merengues, however, was the interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the player with the two European giants said to be in pole position to sign him.

Now, the competition in his pursuit has only increased.

Premier League clubs enter

As revealed in a recent update through Fichajes, two English clubs have entered the race to sign Tah – Chelsea and Manchester City.

Both London-based sides are looking to reinforce their defensive units and are eyeing the player in the summer on a free transfer.

Given the financial prowess they possess, they can offer the player a lucrative deal and serve as a serious threat to Real Madrid’s chances.

The pressure now mounts on the men in white to make moves fast and push if they indeed wish to sign the star either in January or June for they must decide their stance quickly. After all, the central defence has bothered them for over a year now.

In 11 Bundesliga appearances for Bayer Leverkusen, Tah has scored one goal and has overseen one clean sheet. Further, he averages over seven defensive actions per game.
