Real Madrid are looking to strengthen their squad with four new signings as part of their planned rebuild for next season, according to recent reports from AS.

The club is aware that changes are needed, especially in defence, where the current situation is far from ideal. With only one fit centre-back available, the need for reinforcements is clear.

While the club has expressed reluctance to make moves during the January transfer window, they are planning for a busy summer when the transfer market reopens in July 2025.

The defensive reinforcement

Interestingly, three of the potential signings Madrid are targeting are focused on improving their defence, and all are set to be free agents when their contracts expire in June 2025.

These include players at the top of their game: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jonathan Tah, and Alphonso Davies.

Alexander-Arnold, a right-back who also has the versatility to play in midfield, will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season. Madrid have been eyeing him for some time due to his attacking contributions and the potential to strengthen their defensive line.

Similarly, 28-year-old Tah, a solid centre-back for Bayer Leverkusen, is also being considered for a summer move, with his current contract set to expire.

Davies, whose contract also runs out in 2025, has been on Madrid’s radar for at least two seasons.

In addition to defensive reinforcements, Madrid is also looking to add some creativity to their attack. One player that has caught their attention is Florian Wirtz, a 21-year-old attacking midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite his contract running until 2027, there have already been talks about a potential move. Wirtz’s price tag is likely to be high, with his current market value hovering around €130 million, but Madrid are prepared to make the investment.
