Real Madrid have completed the signing of River Plate wonderkid Franco Mastantuono for a reported fee of €45 million.
The 17-year-old moves to the Bernabéu after Real triggered his release clause, and beat off reported competition from PSG and Manchester United among others.
He will not play for Real in the Club World Cup, having failed to have be signed in time. Instead, he will make his final appearances for his boyhood club.
The youngster will arrive in the Spanish capital in mid-August and has signed a six-year deal with Los Blancos.
Mastantuono has quickly become the next big thing in world football after making his debut for River in January 2024. He has since made 61 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals.
This month, he made his international debut, coming on against Chile to become the youngest ever debutant for Argentina at the age of 17 years and 296 days.
Mastantuono is Xabi Alonso's third signing of an already busy summer following the arrivals of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen.
