In a recent report, AS mentioned that Real Madrid are planning to move in for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eager to get a deal done for the English talent, but would have to sell Rodrygo or Dani Ceballos to fund a move for him.
The 21-year-old had a solid campaign at the London club recently after he put in a run of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. Wharton picked up a couple of assists in 27 matches for the Eagles last season across various competitions.
The English midfield ace proved his worth by making 34 tackles, 11 blocks and 20 interceptions for Crystal Palace in the Premier League. He even distributed possession relatively well after completing 75.6% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the London club will run out in the summer of 2029. Thus, Los Blancos would have to make a big offer if they want to lure him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in this transfer window.

Wharton is a tough-tackling midfielder who can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.
The English sensation is primarily a holding midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Real Madrid manage to snap him up this summer.
Wharton would add more bite and steel to Los Blancos boss Xabi Alonso’s midfield department. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team place at the Madrid club this season.
At 21, Wharton has the potential to be a future star in European football as long as he continues to improve with each year. Thus, Real Madrid would be wise to go for a player of his skill set before the end of this transfer window.
