The board at Real Betis this week touched base with their counterparts at La Liga rivals Barcelona, over a potential deal for a member of the latter’s defensive ranks.
That’s according to Diario Sport, citing Estadio Deportivo, who point towards Jofre Torrents as the player in question.
Defender Torrents was for his part one of a host of up-and-coming talents to have been called up for senior duty in Catalunya’s capital this summer.
Whilst the majority of those drafted in by Flick and his staff were subsequently sent back to reserve and youth team duty, though, Torrents was one of a small group to remain with the Blaugrana’s star-studded squad.
The left-back was taken on the pre-season tour of Asia, and thoroughly impressed when afforded time on the pitch.
And such efforts, as alluded to above, did not go unnoticed behind the scenes at another of La Liga’s leading clubs.
As per ED, Real Betis over recent days made contact with Barcelona, to explore a potential deal for Torrents.
The response, however, was clear:
‘Neither Deco nor Hansi Flick are contemplating getting rid of Jofre Torrents under any circumstances.’
