Niko Kovac (to Sky): "We won the match today. The next important game is in Barcelona, a very different challenge because we're up against one of the strongest teams in Europe there. We'll have to be able to defend well. You could already see today that we're capable of that. Everyone does their bit for each other, everyone is prepared to cover ground. You can only be successful together. I'm delighted that Serhou (editor's note: Guirassy) scored following his injury and that Jamie (Gittens) got another goal. It was a success all-round: a victory – and all the strikers scored."

Sebastian Kehl (in the mixed zone): "A deserved victory. Freiburg suit us, and we had Gregor (editor's note: Kobel) in one or two situations. We scored the goals at the right times and were unbelievably clinical. We were able to make good substitutions, ran significantly more and had more chances to score. I was also delighted with the fact that different players scored goals. That just helps us because self-confidence is ultimately important too. We defended well, played compactly and made inroads time and time again. The team really wanted it. We're therefore very satisfied with the match and with the result."

Karim Adeyemi (in the mixed zone): "We needed to get back to basics: to fight and just play. We try to do that every week. You can see the results now: we've played very solidly in the last two games and deserved to win. We're all in good form in attack, and that's why it worked out today. We want to build on that and continue in the same vein next week."

Carney Chukwuemeka (to BVB-TV): "It was an important three points against a rival in terms of our league position. I honestly thought (editor's note: regarding the goal that made it 2-0) that I had squandered the chance with my first touch. Thanks to the grace of God, the ball went in. I'm grateful for that."

Gregor Kobel (in the mixed zone and to Sky): "The intensity, the commitment, the willingness and the efficiency were very good, even if we did struggle a little in the second period. We'll happily go home with the win. What was good was that we saw our counter-attacks through extremely well, got directly in front of goal and scored the goals too. With that in mind, it was a good performance against a difficult opponent. The two victories against direct rivals were very, very important. We still have big ambitions. We have a mega opportunity in the Champions League, where we can play with freedom and will try to get everything possible against a very, very strong opponent."Transcribed by Boris Rupert
