Reds out to maintain 100% record in Europe this season
Liverpool travel to RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Arne Slot has taken to life in Europe well as Reds boss, winning both his games thus far as the Merseyside giants look to secure safe passage into the round-of-16.
They followed up a comeback 3-1 win over AC Milan with a routine 2-0 victory against Bologna and are slight favourites this evening.
Leipzig have lost to both Atletico Madrid and Juventus thus far but have enjoyed a good start to their Bundesliga campaign.
Anfield icon Jurgen Klopp will soon join the Red Bull group in a global management role but won’t be involved at all here as he does not start until 2025.
Here’s everything you need to know about the game.
RB Leipzig vs Liverpool is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off time on Wednesday 23 October 2024.
The Red Bull Arena in Leipzig will host.
TV channel: The game will be broadcast on TNT Sports 1.
Live stream: Subscribers will be able to watch on a live stream via the Discovery+ app.
LIVE coverage: Follow all the action with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog!
Leipzig will be without Amadou Haidara, Nicolas Seiwald, David Raum, Assan Ouédraogo and Xaver Schlager, but there is hope both Kevin Kampl and Lois Openda will be fit.
Liverpool are sweating over the fitness of Diogo Jota, after the forward was forced off during the win over Chelsea. Luis Diaz would come in if the Portuguese misses out, though Darwin Nunez replaced him on Sunday. Alisson and Harvey Eliott are longer-term absentees.
Given how their respective European campaigns have gone thus far, Liverpool look like favourites to maintain their 100 per cent start to the league phase.
Leipzig remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga this season but still without a point in Europe, and that should still be the case this week.
