Olympique Lyonnais rejected a transfer deadline-day offer from Borussia Dortmund for Rayan Cherki (21) valued at €22.5 million.
Lyon were clear that the offer had come far too late in the window for them to reasonably accept as there was no time to replace a crucial element of their attack, while the imperative to sell was no longer as pressing with the departures of Maxence Caqueret, Gift Orban, and Saïd Benrahma.
However, despite Lyon’s reasons for rejecting the offer, L’Équipe reports that Cherki had formally asked the club to agree to the deal. They explain that the playmaker drafted a legal letter that asked the club’s directors to accept the offer.
The French outlet continues stating Lyon not only expect that Cherki will sell for a far higher price in the summer but they believe that Dortmund will return to the table.
