Ranieri to try and convince Mats Hummels to stay another year at Roma

Claudio Ranieri will be personally involved in discussions with Mats Hummels to possibly extend his stay at the capital club by an additional year.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, the 36-year-old centreback has become a cornerstone of the Giallorossi since Ranieri’s arrival.

This, in turn, could spur the German veteran to consider extending his time at Roma seeing as he did not play at all for the first two and a half months of this season.

The newspaper claims Hummels will be the one to evaluate his own future, but Ranieri is expected to make an effort in trying to convince the defender to accept another one-year deal with Roma.

“I want Hummels to be part of Roma next year,” said Ranieri in his press conference on Friday afternoon.
