According to Swedish outlet Sport Bladet, the London outfit are among the clubs chasing the midfielder’s signature this month.

The 21-year-old is under contract with the Tigers until the summer of 2026, but has struggled to cement himself as a key part of the first team squad since officially arriving from Chelsea in 2023.

Simons has made 20 appearances in the Championship so far this season, including 13 starts, with the team fighting against relegation from the second division.

QPR are among the clubs planning a potential move for Simons this month, with the Hoops facing competition from the likes of AIK.

Simons has fallen down the pecking order under new manager Ruben Selles, making just four appearances in the league since he was appointed in early December, three of which came as a substitute.

The 21-year-old hasn’t played for the Yorkshire outfit since their elimination from the FA Cup at the hands of Doncaster Rovers on 12 January.

Swedish side AIK are also in the mix to sign the player, along with other unnamed sides.

It is reportedly unclear what Simons’ preference is at this stage, with speculation mounting ahead of transfer deadline day.

Martí Cifuentes will be hoping to bolster his side before Monday evening, with his side in the mix for a play-off place.

QPR's recent Championship form

QPR were the in-form side in the entire division up until their loss to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

The 2-0 home defeat ended a run of four wins in a row, leaving them 13th in the Championship table.

The gap to the play-off places is now six points after 29 games played, with Hull currently down in 19th, nine points further back.

Next up for Rangers is a trip to face London rivals Millwall on 1 February.

Xavier Simons could be a smart signing if QPR get a deal done

Simons has never quite been able to establish himself as a key part of the first team squad at Hull.

Selles’ arrival as manager has even seen his game time decline in the last few weeks, potentially opening the door to a move, and with the addition of Eliot Matazo as well as Lincoln Henrique, Simons has dropped down the pecking order further.

But he could prove a solid option for QPR, bolstering their midfield options and adding some defensive solidity at a time where Marti Cifuentes' side are lacking a bit of depth.

The youngster still has plenty of potential and could thrive under the right environment, so this could be a move worth exploring before the window closes next week - not to mention he could return to London where he was born and raised.
