PSG was at a standstill in negotiations for Lucas Chevalier and Illia Zabarnyi. However, the Parisians finally got one of these two deals over the line as they officially announced the Frenchman on Saturday as their new No. 1 goalkeeper.

Moreover, it’s only a matter of time before Zabarnyi is announced as the newest PSG player. The question with the Ukraine standout is whether or not the player will be ready for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur.

If Zabarnyi is announced on Sunday or Monday, then it wouldn’t be wild to assume that he will be on the bench at least for Luis Enrique. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see whether Chevalier becomes the No. 1 right away to play this match.

Speaking of Luis Enrique, RMC Sport’s Daniel Riolo believes that the Spanish manager had a hand in PSG hitting the accelerator in these two transfers to help them get over the line as PSG prepare to win another trophy this season.

“Luis Enrique wants Zabarnyi and Chevalier by Wednesday,” Riolo said (h/t Le10Sport). “So when PSG wants to speed things up on certain deals, they give it a little push, free up the few missing millions. And everything gets resolved very easily. Life is definitely simpler with extra millions. When you have them, it’s good, but when you can add a little extra, it’s even easier.”

Tottenham could find themselves on the wrong side of Enrique’s push to finalize the signings before the clash. PSG will now look to have a full squad ready for the match as they look to defeat another Premier League team this year.
