PSG’s Fabián Ruiz suffers injury blow ahead of key Manchester City tie | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain’s hopes of qualification for the next round of the UEFA Champions League may hinge on next Wednesday’s match against Manchester City. Ahead of that game, PSG have suffered a blow with Fabián Ruiz (28) withdrawing with an injury during Wednesday’s Coupe de France victory over lower-division side Espaly.

Without Ruiz, Les Parisiens just about got the job done, netting two late goals to avoid a penalty shootout scenario in the Round of 32 of the Coupe de France. However, they had to do so without Ruiz, who came off at half-time. Post-match, Luis Enrique refused to go into much detail about the Spain international but did state that he was withdrawn due to an injury, just one week before the Champions League encounter against Manchester City, at the Parc des Princes.

With two games remaining, PSG are 25th, one place outside the qualification places, with just seven points. Manchester City will also be playing for their future in the competition as they are 22nd with just eight points. With just one match remaining after the encounter with the pair, it is a decisive match and one that, perhaps, could be played without Ruiz.
