It’s still unclear what lies ahead for Xavi Simons, with rumors swirling about a possible move this summer. FC Barcelona are reportedly one of the clubs vying to bring him over from Paris Saint-Germain.

Throughout the years, PSG has attracted talent from the Catalan side, even signing Simons when he was still a youth player. However, it’s probable that the Spanish club would like to reciprocate the gesture and draw talent from PSG in the future.

CBS Sports reporter Jonathan Johnson spoke exclusively with PSG Talk about Simons and whether he sees the 21-year-old leaving for Barcelona or a Premier League club like Arsenal, who have been linked to in the best.

“Can I see it? I don’t,” Johnson said. “I don’t think PSG will let Simons leave unless the offer is absolutely astronomical and it’s too good to turn down. I think Luis Enrique has already said publicly that he would like much to have Xavi Simons as part of his PSG side for next season.

“I think PSG will try their best in order to bring him back from Leipzig in time for next season. How possible that is, I think, will depend a lot on the terms of the deal that brought Simons back to PSG from PSV Eindhoven. But my impression is that PSG want, if at all possible, to be able to have Xavi Simons from the beginning of next season.”

Fabrizio Romano recently reported that PSG reached out to Simons’ representatives to clarify that they aren’t planning to sell him permanently this summer.

However, if Simons isn’t interested in returning, they’re thinking about a loan option, which seems to be the most probable scenario. The player will also have a say in choosing where he goes on loan next.
