Arsenal travel to the Parc des Princes knowing their Champions League hopes are on the line against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday 7th May at 8pm (UK time). PSG take a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their semi-final and have drawn both of their previous home games against Arsenal. This game will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1.
Eleven of the 21 goals in Arsenal’s away Champions League games this season have come in the first half of their matches.
PSG have conceded the opening goal in four of their seven home Champions League games this season.
PSG are looking to knock out a third English team en route to a potential Champions League final. Les Parisiens had to go through the knockout phase play-offs after an underwhelming group stage, but they thrashed fellow French side Brest 10-0 over their two legs. That set up a last-16 tie against Liverpool, in which PSG came from a 0-1 first-leg deficit to win on penalties. PSG then beat Aston Villa over two legs in the quarter-finals, though they almost gave up a healthy lead.
Arsenal will be hoping to repeat PSG’s comeback against Liverpool as they dream of a second Champions League final. The Gunners will go all in on the Champions League, with the Premier League title gone and a top five finish highly likely. Mikel Arteta’s men automatically qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League, where they beat PSV 9-3 on aggregate. The biggest result of their campaign came in the quarter-finals, though, as Arsenal dominated defending champions Real Madrid to win 5-1 on aggregate.
Ousmane Dembele came off after 70 minutes of the first leg with a suspected hamstring injury. But the goalscoring hero insisted after the game that “it’s going to be fine” ahead of the second leg. Luis Enrique, however, has listed Dembele as a doubt with the Frenchman set to undergo tests. PSG otherwise have everyone available.
Riccardo Calafiori, Kai Havertz and Jorginho are all expected to be back before the season is over, but they’re set to miss this game. Gabriel, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu are out for the season.
PSG’s first-leg win over Arsenal was their first victory against the Gunners. Arsenal had won two of the first five meetings alongside three draws.
