Manchester United have signed LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro this summer. However, with the teenager joining the English club it’s worth wondering how this move might affect their continued interest in Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt.

According to a recent report from Bild, Manchester United have made their initial bid for de Ligt, but it doesn’t meet Bayern Munich’s asking price.

Bayern Munich are willing to sell de Ligt, who would reunite with Erik ten Hag at United, but they want €50 million (£42 million). Manchester United’s offer is said to be €30 million plus €5 million in add-ons, totaling £29.4 million.

With the potential transfer at a standstill, the latest information comes from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who reports that de Ligt has confirmed to Manchester United in recent days that he is still waiting to join them.

The agreement on personal terms between de Ligt and United is still valid. Regardless, the Red Devils apparently cannot agree to a transfer fee with the Bundesliga side.

Last month, RMC Sport reported that Paris Saint-Germain are very interested in de Ligt, who is under contract with Bayern until 2027, and see him as a crucial addition to their team. It’ll be intriguing to see if PSG or another club tries to swoop in on this transfer or if de Ligt ends up staying put after all.
