Maghnes Akliouche has quickly emerged as one of the most sought-after players as the summer transfer window nears its end, attracting strong interest from PSG and Manchester City following a standout season with AS Monaco. The 23-year-old has cemented his place as one of Ligue 1’s brightest young talents, though a move away from Monaco may not happen immediately.

In May, 90min France reported that Manchester City and PSG had intensified their pursuit, with Monaco reportedly valuing the midfielder at around €70 million. Pep Guardiola admires Akliouche’s left-footed creativity and versatility, viewing him as a potential long-term successor to Bernardo Silva.

Recently, The Independent reported that Tottenham are eyeing Akliouche as a more affordable option to Savinho, with Manchester City setting a £70 million price tag for the 21-year-old. Monaco, meanwhile, value their attacking midfielder at £47.5 million.

On the latest Ensemble PSG Podcast, Robin Bairner, chief editor at Football Transfers, believes Monaco will hold onto Akliouche as another young player could be on the move.

“Akliouche is a player that Monaco seem to be willing to sell at this point. We know that Monaco want to reduce their squad size,” Bairner said. “Adi Hütter has made it quite clear that he’s got too many players for his needs at the moment. And certainly Akliouche is a player who has been linked with a whole bunch of top European clubs.

“Generally, they’ve been put off by the transfer fee, which started off in the summer as being something around €80 million, which is a huge fee for… Akliouche is an immensely talented player, but I think you’d struggle to justify a fee in that region. That’s what’s put teams off.

“At the moment, it seems like [Eliesse] Ben Seghir is probably going to be the player that leaves, and I can’t see Monaco being keen to release both Ben Seghir and Akliouche in the same transfer window, because obviously, they’ve got their own aims this season—Champions League—and they obviously want to challenge towards the top of the league. So it’s definitely one to watch for sure.”
