Paris Saint-Germain delivered a dominant performance on Sunday as they cruised to a 4–0 victory over Inter Miami CF, sealing a spot in the Club World Cup quarter-finals.
The French side wasted no time asserting control, bursting out of the blocks with intensity and precision. Their early pressure paid off in the seventh minute, when Vitinha’s pinpoint free-kick found João Neves at the far post. The Portuguese midfielder rose unmarked to head home the opener, setting the tone for what would be a one-sided first half.
PSG doubled their lead on 39 minutes through a well-worked team move. After a defensive blunder from Inter Miami, Bradley Barcola teed up Fabián Ruiz, who unselfishly squared the ball to Neves for his second of the night.
The Parisian side smelled blood, and their third came just minutes later when a Desire Doué cross caused panic in the Miami box, resulting in an own goal by Tomás Avilés.
The first half wrapped up with a touch of flair. Vitinha, pulling strings in midfield, released Barcola with a clever pass down the right, and the winger’s low cross found Achraf Hakimi, who smashed home PSG’s fourth in added time. With a 4–0 cushion at the break, the match was effectively over.
The second half saw a much slower pace as PSG managed the game and rotated their squad. Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, did their best to carve out opportunities. However, the Parisian defence remained largely untroubled.
Messi did cause some concern for the French back line with a few trademark runs, but without sufficient support, Inter Miami never looked like mounting a comeback.
Luis Enrique’s men march on to the quarter-finals, having sent a clear message with this commanding display.
