Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to let Manuel Ugarte leave on loan for the 2024/25 season, with Manchester United still interested in signing the Uruguayan, a report has claimed.

The Red Devils are on the hunt for a new midfielder to help complement Kobbie Mainoo in Erik ten Hag's engine room, and have been locked in talks with PSG over Ugarte for a few weeks now.

The French champions are closing in on the signing of Benfica and Portugal sensation Joao Neves, who was also linked with United earlier this year. As such, PSG appear to be ready to soften their stance on fellow midfielder Ugarte.

L'Equipe report PSG are determined not to make a loss on Ugarte, who joined from Sporting CP last summer for €60m (£50.6m). With that in mind, they are willing to loan out the 23-year-old if they receive a sizeable loan fee and the deal includes a 'high purchase option'.

So far, United have been unable to meet PSG's demands, but their position could be further strengthened by the Ligue 1 side's need to shift players in order to make space for a new forward. They are yet to bring in any sort of outside replacement for Kylian Mbappe, though have held talks with Napoli over the signing of striker Victor Osimhen.

If PSG do not receive an acceptable offer for Ugarte, they will instead try and move on Spanish midfielder Carlos Soler, who is wanted by Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United.

United, meanwhile, continue to be linked with a move for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt. They may be in need of further reinforcements at centre-back after summer signing Leny Yoro was ruled out for three months with a foot injury.
