Norwich, meanwhile, endured a frustrating start to their league campaign, falling 2-1 at home to Millwall on the opening day. They did, however, bounce back in midweek with a 2-1 victory over Watford in the EFL Cup.

The last time these sides faced each other, Portsmouth came out on top in a thrilling 5-3 encounter.

It wasn’t the start Liam Manning’s men had in mind, but there’s no need for panic just yet.

The Canaries will travel with a bit of a spring in their step after midweek EFL Cup success, edging out Watford 2-1 away from home. That result will be a welcome boost, especially given last season’s struggles on the road, where they scored just 19 goals, their lowest Championship away tally since 2007-08, and ended the campaign without a win in their final seven league trips.

If Norwich are to come away from Fratton Park with something, they’ll need to be sharper in front of goal and more solid at the back.
