The Bundesliga returns this weekend after the winter break and begins with a big fixture between Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen on Friday.
Dortmund currently sit in sixth place with 25 points and are two points behind a top four spot whilst Leverkusen are in second place and are now just four points behind the league leaders Bayern Munich.
Nuri Sahin’s side won their last match on the 22nd December against Wolfsburg however this was their first win in five matches in all competitions, having lost one and drawn the other three games.
Dortmund are unbeaten at home this season though and may have benefited from the winter break after their poor form leading up to Christmas and having a long list of injuries.
Their opponents are on a five-game winning run in the league and are on a nine-game winning run in all competitions, including impressive wins in the DFB-Pokal against Bayern Munich and in the Champions League against Inter Milan.
Xabi Alonso’s side now have the opportunity to put the pressure on Bayern Munich before they have to travel for a tough away match against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.
